Montero Sport GLX vs GLS vs Black Series (2026)

By Richard Cuagdan, Mitsubishi Sales Executive ·

Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series SUV

Quick answer: Montero Sport GLX vs GLS vs Black Series, in short. All Montero Sport variants share the 2.4L 4N15 turbo diesel (181 PS, 430 Nm) and seven seats. The GLX MT is the value pick with a 6-speed manual (₱1,568,000 SRP). The GLS AT (₱1,927,000) adds the 8-speed automatic. The Black Series AT comes in 2WD (₱2,190,000) and 4WD (₱2,530,000) for buyers who want the top trim and, on the 4WD, off-road capability.

The Montero Sport is the full-size, ladder-frame diesel SUV in the Mitsubishi lineup. All variants share the same heart, so choosing one is really about three questions: manual or automatic, how much trim you want, and whether you need 4WD.

GLX MT: the value pick

The GLX uses a 6-speed manual and is the most affordable way into a Montero Sport. It suits buyers who are comfortable with a clutch, drive long highway stretches, or want the diesel SUV body and torque at the lowest monthly. At ₱28,265 a month with just ₱80K down, it's the entry point.

GLS AT: the everyday automatic

The GLS steps up to the 8-speed automatic, which makes daily traffic on Quirino Highway or EDSA much easier on your left leg. It's the sweet spot for most families who want a Montero Sport they'll drive every day.

Black Series: 2WD or 4WD

The Black Series is the top trim with its own styling, offered in 2WD and 4WD, both automatic. Choose the 2WD if you want the look and trim for city and highway use. Choose the 4WD if your weekends include mountain roads, beach access roads or farm properties, or if you live in an area where roads get rough in the rainy season.

Features differ by variant, so ask me for the official spec sheet before deciding. I'd rather you compare the real list than assumptions.
